In 1971, Robert S. Bowditch, Jr. founded MB Associates as a real estate development and management company with a focus on the development of low and moderate income multi-family rental housing. As the company flourished in the early 70s, Mr. Bowditch became a leader and pioneer in the New England development community with his involvement in urban renewal and adaptive reuse development projects.

The Company has over thirty years of experience specializing in multi-family residential housing. Since 1971, we have taken pride in our long and outstanding history, as evidenced by a strong track record in real estate performance. Our extensive capabilities serve a diverse array of properties and provide a multitude of services across the country - from New England to the Pacific Northwest.

Since its inception, the Company has developed or acquired more than fifty properties, totaling over 8,000 units and valued in excess of $300 million dollars. Presently, we manage a portfolio of forty residential properties consisting of over 4,385 residential apartments located in six states.

MB Management Company (MBMC) performs a full range of real estate services including development, acquisition, placement of equity, placement of debt, rental residential, condominium and commercial real estate management, and construction management.

We have an especially strong track record in property performance, particularly where value added management is required. We are dedicated to a very personal, hands-on approach to all the details of management. As such, we have established an enviable reputation for our professional and diligent approach to property management, which has been frequently noted by state and federal regulatory agencies in providing our properties with “Exceptional Management Practices” ratings to the Company. At MB Management Company, every member of our staff of over 150 is thoroughly committed to bring their talents, creativity and professionalism to each client’s project. Our success is based firmly on the success of each property we undertake to manage.

MB Management’s senior management staff, located at the Company’s main office in Braintree, Massachusetts, oversee all the details of our real estate business. Our property management staff are located in regional offices in Massachusetts, New York, Arizona, New Hampshire, Washington, Maine and Georgia.

The diversity and expertise of our personnel matches the diversity of our portfolio; as residential real estate managers, we manage new construction, older properties, luxury complexes, condominiums, high rises, garden style apartments, distressed properties, workouts and turnarounds, and government assisted housing for multi-family and elderly residents. We are experienced in the management of properties that are permanently financed through HUD, MassHousing, New York Division of Housing and Community Renewal, Rural Housing Service (formerly Farmers Home Administration), and other public entities including those which have interest and rental subsidy included. As such, we have a first hand working knowledge of financing agency and reporting requirements as well as those that are associated with the provision of subsidy.

Financial, technical services, development and project management staff, including property take-over specialists, are located in our offices nationwide, making MB Management Company’s real estate expertise immediately accessible to all areas of the country.
